Studying Linguistics and the English Language, provides you with the comprehensive and integrated content needed to understand the origins and nature of language(s). You’ll learn how languages develop, how they change, how they are expressed, and how they vary between people, within communities, between cities, within countries and around the world.

Over the course of their degree, students will acquire a range of valuable employability skills such as data handling and analysis, analytical and critical thinking, project and time management, plus the ability to work independently, with a supervisor and as part of a team.

Our modules are taught by experts in a range of fields and, depending on your projects and interests, can make use of our four state-of-the art research laboratories. Our labs hold eye tracking, ERP (neurophysiological / brain wave measuring), professional grade ¬audio recording, corpora, and advanced video / motion capture equipment.

Your 3rd year project will allow you to research an area of your choice. Whatever your ambitions and goals after graduation the project is a great way to improve your employability and start focusing on your interest area.
