Dr Bid Webb, Programme Director for the MSc Tropical Forestry commented:
"We're proud that our distance learning programmes continue to receive recognition from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. These scholarships give talented individuals from across the Commonwealth the opportunity to pursue an MSc while remaining in their home countries. Most of our scholars are already active professionals in forestry, agroforestry, or natural resource management, which means they can immediately apply their learning in real-world contexts.鈥
鈥淲e are committed to building a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, supported by a dedicated academic team with a broad range of expertise. With an increasing focus on innovative e-learning tools, we strive to enrich student engagement, foster a strong sense of community, and maintain high academic standards."
One of our graduates (Tonthoza Uganja from Malawi) is currently studying for a PhD in the School of Environmental & Natural Sciences. She said 鈥淭he MSc Tropical Forestry programme at 亚洲色吧 gave me the confidence to start my own land restoration extension startup, Sustainable Farming Solutions (SFS). The programme helped me understand my role in supporting small-scale farmers and forest owners.鈥
We have a diverse group of distance learning students from research institutes, public and private forest management bodies, environmental NGOs and other related organisations from over 20 different countries. 鈥疻e run a鈥疶ropical Forestry Study Tour, ensuring all scholars and the teaching team meet in person, get to know each other and discover and learn together in a tropical (agro)forestry environment. For many, this is the鈥痟ighlight of the programme.
罢丑别鈥School of Environmental & Natural Sciences鈥鈥痟as been running part-time鈥forestry-related distance-learning courses鈥痵ince 2002 with the first intake of CSC scholars in 2011. Since then, our scholars and鈥graduates鈥痟ave become great ambassadors for 亚洲色吧 and for the CSC. The CSC scholarship has given our distance-learning students and graduates a rare opportunity to study for an international postgraduate degree at one of the UK鈥檚 most respected institutes in its field.
