Why collaborate with a Clinical Trials Unit (CTU)?
Clinical trials are complex projects that require particular expertise to manage effectively and deliver the intended outcomes.听 Team members within CTUs聽 are able to provide valuable, specialist input into trial design and management, statistical planning and analysis, system set-up, data management and quality assurance, needed to undertake a successful clinical trial. Working with a CTU enables you to have access to this expert input聽 throughout the entire trial lifecycle, from the development of the initial grant application stage, through to dissemination of results.听 CTU staff are also trained in UK and global regulations that govern the conduct of clinical trials, providing you with essential leadership and advice to deliver compliant and high-quality clinical research.
Request NWORTH support
We are always interested in discussing new proposals for collaboration. The first step is to send us a description of your proposal, by completing the Collaboration Request Form on the right. If you would like to contact the team before completing the form, please email nworth@bangor.ac.uk.听
Please get in touch with us as early in the process as possible, and聽at least 6-8 weeks before a funding deadline.聽This will enable us to provide adequate time to assess an application and judge whether the CTU has the capacity to collaborate.听
Your proposal request will be reviewed by the NWORTH Core Operational Group (COG) who meet weekly to decide if a request is accepted, and the level of NWORTH involvement.听 Our involvement can range from full-management of the clinical trial, or discrete services (e.g. Statistics or Data management only). The assessment is based on a number of factors, including:聽
- Does the study address clinically important questions?
- Is there a gap in the evidence base?
- Does the research team have the necessary expertise to deliver the study?
- How feasible is the proposal?聽
- How well does the proposal fit with a particular funding call, and is there a clearly identified source of funding?聽
- Are there clear explanations of trial team and CTU roles/remit?
If we need further information to make a decision, a member of NWORTH COG will contact you to arrange a meeting to discuss your proposal further.听 This might include follow-up discussions on trial design, methodology, recruitment or funding.听
We look forward to receiving your proposals for new trials.听
