
Overview
Stephanie L Steventon is a Lecturer in Film and Media Production. Her academic interests encompass short fiction film production, documentary production, creative practice dissertations, horror, and experimental cinema.
Ms. Steventon possesses practical industry experience as an Art Director for short films and music videos. Her recent directorial work (as of March 2025) includes a short documentary for the North Wales charity, River and Sea Sense. For two consecutive years Stephanie was a co-founder and organiser of the academic conference and film festival Communities and Communication. Culminating in a special issue and article which explored the curatorial strategies involved in the completion of an interdisciplinary conference within the Journal of Arts and Communities.
Stephanie teaches across a variety of modules within the area of Film, Media and Journalism, including Cultural Dispatches, Short Film Production, Arts Project and Creative Practice.Ìý

Film, Media and Journalism students and staff were also invited to an exclusive pre-screening of the feature film, ‘The Almond and the Seahorse’ directed by and starring Celyn Jones, alongside Rebel Wilson. This private screening included a Q&A with Celyn Jones about the filmmaking process, and students and staff had the opportunity to give critical feedback on the current edit of the film – with comments influencing the final cut prior to its wider release.
I was the organiser of the event and hosted the Q&A with Celyn Jones.

Activity: Types of Public engagement and outreach - Festival/Exhibition (Contributor)Pontio, ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É’s arts and innovation centre, hosted the Ffilm Cymru & the BFI Network shorts networking and showcasing event, where short films with a local connection were screened. Students also participated in a Q&A hosted by lecturer in Film Production, Stephanie Steventon and had an opportunity to meet and network with the filmmakers. Shorts included ‘Nant’, written and directed by Tom Chetwode-Barton; ‘Jelly’ by Samantha O’Rourke; and ‘Sally Leapt out of a Window Last Night’ by Tracy Spottiswoode.
