CELT CPD workshop: Beyond Stress testing: AI, Academic Integrity, and Assessment: Challenges and Potential Solutions a collaborative workshop
Speaker: Dr James Wood
The rapid rise of generative AI (GAI) in education over the past two years has created both opportunities and challenges for teaching, learning, and assessment.
Recent reports (Guardian, 2025; Financial Times, 2025) highlight a dramatic increase in AI use, with most UK students now integrating AI into their academic work. As a result, educators must move beyond merely “stress testing” assessments and instead rethink how to ethically and effectively incorporate AI into learning. This evolving landscape raises critical questions:
- How can we guide students to use AI in ways that enhance learning and career readiness?
- How can we design assessments that are authentic, inclusive, and aligned with learning outcomes?
- How do we foster a culture of trust, integrity, and responsibility?
This interactive workshop will explore these pressing issues through research on higher education assessment, emerging guidelines from ɫ, and insights from participants. Together, we will examine strategies for redesigning assessments in an AI-influenced world while upholding academic integrity and supporting diverse learners.
