ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É is proud to introduce GLOBE, an innovative Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme in Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management. This collaborative endeavour, in partnership with (URJC), (ULisboa), and (UATx), addresses the pressing global challenges posed by environmental changes and biodiversity loss.

In an era where ecosystems are increasingly threatened by factors such as unsustainable land and sea use, overexploitation, climate change, pollution, and invasive species, the need for skilled professionals in biodiversity management has never been more critical. GLOBE is designed to cultivate academic excellence and global cooperation, providing students with comprehensive interdisciplinary training. The programme aligns with the European Union's Nature Restoration Law and Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, positioning the EU at the forefront of global conservation initiatives.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of GLOBE will:

• Understand the drivers and impacts of global change on biodiversity.
• Acquire advanced skills in statistical analysis and modelling for conservation studies.
• Develop practical expertise in wildlife conservation techniques and conservation genetics.
• Gain insights into ecological sustainability, environmental governance, and the transition to a bioeconomy.
• Be proficient in communicating complex ecological concepts to diverse audiences.

GLOBE aims to produce highly qualified graduates with an international perspective, ready to bridge the gap between stakeholders and policymakers in various sectors, including research, policy, consultancy, and activism.

What will you study on this course?

The Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management GLOBE degree offers a two-year Joint curriculum, structured to provide students with diverse international experiences:

• First semester at URJC (Spain): Focus on advanced concepts in global change assessment and biodiversity conservation, complemented by training in data analysis, scientific writing, and communication.
• Second semester at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É (UK): Emphasis on biodiversity conservation, integrating natural, social, and applied sciences with practical fieldwork to explore patterns, threats, and conservation strategies.
• Summer school at Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala UATx (Mexico):  The integration of fieldwork at  and its experimental station will further enrich the learning experience, allowing students to study first-hand ecological challenges and conservation practices in highly diverse ecosystems
• Third semester at ULisboa (Portugal): Application of acquired knowledge to address ecological challenges, equipping students with tools for effective environmental management.
• Fourth semester (student choice of partner institutions): Dedicated to the Master’s thesis, allowing students to conduct in-depth research under the guidance of international experts.

The programme includes mandatory mobility periods, a summer school, and joint events to enhance transversal skills and networking opportunities.
