We have the pleasure of welcoming Caradoc Jones at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É to give a public lecture as part of theÌýÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Science Festival.
From being the first South Georgia Harbourmaster after the Falklands War to the first Welshman to summit Everest. A mixture of marine science and mountaineering that began at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and continues a long and winding road from which he tries to make some sense about what lies ahead.
Caradoc ‘Crag’ Jones was the first Welshman to reach the summit of Everest in May 1995 at the age of 33.Ìý He graduated with a BSc Marine Biology & Oceanography degree from ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É in 1982. Following his successful climb, he gained popularity by hosting television programmes for young climbers and supporting Welsh climbing and walking groups. Currently working as a fisheries consultant, Crag continues to pursue climbing and expeditioning and has also taken up downhill mountain bike racing.
